Shackerley Wins TTA Award for One Vesta Street
Shackerley has once again achieved award success after scooping the ‵Best Commercial project (over 250m2)′ accolade in The Tile Association (TTA) Awards.
Presented to founder and CEO, Brian G Newell at the Association’s awards dinner, the prize recognises the Shackerley SureClad® Ceramic Granite system used in the construction of One Vesta Street; a stunning residential development in Manchester’s Northern Quarter by Manchester Life Development Company (MLDC).
Designed by world-renowned Rafael Viñoly Architects, the development was delivered as a design and build project by Eric Wright Group, with implementation architects, Chapman Taylor. The SureClad® facade was installed by Speedclad Ltd.
The Shackerley team worked closely with the delivery partners from the early stages of the project to ensure the complex facade design was achieved to the highest quality standards and within budget. This included visits to our ISO 9001 accredited factories in Lancashire and a production schedule aligned to the installation programme.
Each section of the installation involved 12 panel sizes and each configuration of 12 panels was repeated randomly across the facade. The SureClad® Hang On system was used for the majority of the installation because it was more suitable for the random layout of the different panel types. For the horizontal banding using 1198 x 598 mm panels in a horizontal orientation around the base of the building at ground level, the SureClad® Access system was used.
The TTA Award recognises both the technical complexity and the aesthetics of the finished installation, which highlights the versatility, visual appeal and safety of the Class A1 rated (to BS EN 13501-1) SureClad® Ceramic Granite system.

Shackerley’s SureClad® ceramic cladding answers the non-combustible cladding requirements of BS EN13501-1. Our ceramic facade system is an A1 rated rainscreen. We offer a choice of A1 rated or A2 rated anti-fragmentation backing, resulting in an A1 rated ceramic facade or A2 S1 D0 cladding system.
