BrickClad® tested with Siderise Firestopping

The Shackerley BrickClad® system has successfully passed fire resistance tests demonstrating the performance of our A-rated mechanically fixed brick facades in combination with Siderise firestopping. We partnered with Siderise for the tests, which were carried out at the company’s Siderise Innovation Centre under strict test conditions. Full datasets are now available to evidence the performance of both the firestopping and the facade system when used in combination during 90-minute tests.

Tests were conducted with our BrickClad^® installed both vertically and horizontally, using the principles of TGD19 (previously EN1364-6), with furnace controls, temperature and pressure run to EN1363-1. In each case, the tests proved that the combination of Siderise firestopping and BrickClad^® provides protection from heat, fire and smoke for more than 30 minutes.

The first 90-minute test was carried out on a 1200mm length of Siderise RH25 90/30 open state cavity barrier, which was installed into our BrickClad^® system as per standard installation guidance, complete with three supporting brackets and a 25mm air gap to the back of the carrier panel. The Siderise firestopping prevented the spread of heat, fire and smoke for 37 minutes with integrity up to the limit of the test (90 minutes), while the BrickClad^® system prevented the spread of heat, fire and smoke and retained the integrity of the materials up to the limit of the test period.

The second test involved a 1200mm length of Siderise RV 90/30 cavity barrier installed into BrickClad^® and was carried out under the same test set-up and conditions, resulting in a 33 minute heat, fire and smoke delay for the fire stopping materials and a 43 minute delay for the BrickClad^®. Both products retained their integrity for the full 90-minute test period.

Both tests prove that the combination of BrickClad^® and Siderise fire stopping provide protection from heat, fire and smoke for more than 30 minutes, offering specifiers a proven solution. These results will enable specifiers to leverage the design versatility, ease of installation and aesthetics of our A1-rated BrickClad^® facade system as part of a facade build-up with trusted Siderise firestopping solutions.
