Facade Award Win for our Animate Preston Project
Shackerley’s SureClad® facade system has once again been recognised in the annual Facade Awards, with the £45 million Animate Preston project being named as the winner of the Best use of a Rainscreen using Glass, Ceramics or Stone.
The Facade Awards 2025 were held at the Midland Hotel in Manchester on November 7th and Shackerley was named alongside Lester Cladding North West as delivery partners for the prestigious project, which has created a new leisure destination in Preston, including an eight-screen cinema, a 16-lane bowling alley, and five restaurants.
We supplied the SureClad® facade system in both quarried stone and two variants of porcelain stone for a total facade area of 629m2. The striking 343m2 largest expanse of facade features our wood-effect porcelain stone, using 1198 x 297mm cladding panels in a natural timber brown colourway. Our quarried stone facade panels were used for a 196m2 area of the facade in a beige colourway with a honed finish, and our large format 1198 x 598mm porcelain stone cladding panels were installed by Lester Cladding in a complementary beige colourway for an 89m2 area of the facade.
Developed by Maple Grove Developments, the Animate Preston project is one of many buildings designed by Leach Rhodes Walker specified with a Shackerley SureClad® facade, with previous Leach Rhodes Walker projects including The Copper House in Liverpool, Project Medius in Leicester, and the Hilton Hotel at Stansted.
The 2025 Facade Award win follows previous success for Shackerley’s SureClad® cladding system in the awards, with a win for the Berkeley Group’s Royal Warwick Square project in 2023, where our SureClad® Quarried Stone system was used in natural limestone and natural granite for a 12,500m2 facade, comprising 27,700 pieces of stone and 6,800 bracketed returns. Our Allam Diabetes Centre also won the same category in 2022, with a SureClad® porcelain stone facade. Our BrickClad® Multi-Rail® system was also shortlisted this year in the Most Innovative Project of the Year category.
