BrickClad® facade makes a splash at leisure centre

Shackerley’s BrickClad® mechanically fixed brick cladding system has been used to create the facade of a new £14m leisure centre facility in Shropshire. Our BBA-certified brick facade system has been used to create a striking brick feature wall for a 255m2 area of the new Whitchurch Swimming and Fitness Centre, as part of a Kingspan project. The installation has seen the BrickClad® Magnelis® steel rails fixed directly to the Kingspan Quadcore Karrier panel; an installation method that has been CWCT certified as a suitable facade build-up for projects where Kingspan insulation panels and the Shackerley BrickClad® brick cladding system are used in combination.

Installing our innovative BrickClad^® mechanically fixed brick facade system with the Magnelis^® steel rails fixed directly to the Kingspan Quadcore Karrier system saves time and cost on site, leveraging maximum value from our partnership with Kingspan and enabling specifiers to deliver a best value approach. It is an alternative to the conventional BrickClad^® installation method, which uses our patented and Queens Award-winning Shackerley SureClad^® primary support system to create a support grid for the BrickClad^® rails or Multi-Rail five-in-one rail system.

For all BrickClad^® installations, we provide our unique, patented steel cassette profiles, which have been designed by Shackerley and are manufactured in-house at our ISO 9001 certified factories. BrickClad^® cassette profiles are flat backed, creating a single, flat inner surface for easier, more accurate detailing, reduced fire risk, and improved fire stopping installation. The BrickClad^® system is available in Magnelis^® steel as standard, which provides significantly better corrosion resistance than conventional galvanised steel, or in stainless steel.

For the Whitchurch Swimming and Fitness Centre Project, the BrickClad^® mechanically fixed brick facade system has been installed by Sage Building Envelope Contractors in a red/orange colourway from our Saxony BrickClad^® range. The 215 x65 x25mm BrickClad^® bricks provide a traditional aesthetic, in-keeping with the local area, and the facade system delivers a lightweight, secret fix solution for the leisure centre, which brings a six-lane 25m pool, accessible changing rooms, a 41-station fitness suite, multi-function rooms, and a café to the town.
