Inspired by nature and the timeless allure of precious stones, the stunning new Mendini Collection of vibrant glass blocks is set to open up a new realm of design possibilities for contemporary interiors.
 Seves, the world’s leading manufacturer of glass blocks for architectural and design applications, has collaborated with Studio Mendini in Milan to create an extraordinarily colourful range of sixteen glass blocks. This unique collection is now available in the UK exclusively through Shackerley.
In the early nineties, it was Seves that transformed the humble glass block into a sophisticated design component by enhancing its brilliance and transparency, and most importantly of all, by introducing subtle pastel colours, paving the way for glass blocks to be employed in many more design applications. Now, through the Mendini Collection, the manufacturer is taking these contemporary building materials into a new colour dimension altogether, with rich ruby red, deep topaz yellow, intense amethyst and an alluring array of additional gemstone colours, alongside different intensities of black and white.
The sixteen glass blocks in the Mendini Collection are all in the exclusive and highly innovative Pegasus Metallised style. Accordingly, each 19 x 19mm block features extended external edges, or ‘wings’ that can reduce the visible grouting between blocks to as little as 2mm if required, effectively delivering an ‘all glass’ wall with almost imperceptible joins. A pioneering ‘mirroring’ treatment applied to the outer edges of these ingenious blocks increases their reflectivity and produces a silver optical effect that adds further brilliance to the glass surface.
