HANDY
HINTS
1.
The most easily available and commonly used
size of block is 190 x 190 x 80 mm.
2.
To calculate height and width of finished
wall. Add 10 mm for each block plus 10 mm
to overall dimension, e.g 5 block wide =
( 190 + 10 ) = 200 mm x 5 plus 10 = 1010
mm.
3.
Only use glass block mortar and mix only
enough to lay 2 courses at a time
4.
Plastic spacers will help to 'line' and
level the blocks. Occasionally check with
a Level.
5.
After approximately 4 courses, rake out
all joints to a depth of 5 mm or so and
clean glass blocks with a damp cloth to
remove any residual mortar ( grout up later
) allow mortar to 'go off' before proceeding
with further courses.
