HPL PANELS
Shackerley offers a range of building grade high pressure laminates (HPL) for use in rainscreen systems. These panels can be installed with the Sureclad rainscreen substructure enabling specifiers to create combined ceramic granite and HPL façades using a common installation system. With extensive in-house cutting and fabrication facilities, Shackerley can cut HPL panels to required sizes and pre-drill them.
LIGNUM HPL PANELS
Where a natural variegated wood finish is required, Shackerley offers a range of lignum HPL panels manufactured with a real wood veneer. These attractive panels exhibit all the natural variation and beauty of real wood rather than the repetitive patterning common in photographic representations.
There are five standard colour variants and the wood veneer is tinted to achieve the consistency of colour and sheen required in a rainscreen façade.
During the production process unset resin/cellulose sheets and wood veneer are pressed at 300 tonnes and heated to a temperature of 130°C. This combination of pressure and heat produces a homogeneous and weather stable panel.
As the resin impregnates the wood veneer and the wood fibres are completely polymerised, their hygroscopic properties are lost. The panel surface becomes so dense that graffiti will not penetrate and normally remains removable. The panels are unaffected by fungi and algae and as lignum is inert, it does not react when in contact with other materials. The result is an exceptionally durable panel with no special maintenance requirements.
CRYSTALLISED GLASS
Shackerley is pleased to bring to the cladding market a relatively new product for external ventilated façades– crystallised glass on a porcelain body.
A polycrystal produced from inorganic powders is integrated with fully vitrified Class B1A ceramic granite to produce a material of high density and hardness with zero water absorption. It is completely weather resistant and is unaffected by UV rays – an ideal material for façade cladding.
This is an exciting product concept with an ever-increasing range of applications. Further development is currently being undertaken by Shackerley in conjunction with its manufacturing partners
